Bowel complaints

Bowel disorders are less frequent with MS but can still be very troublesome. The cause of this can be a transit and/or evacuation problem, leading to constipation, frequent defecation and/or fecal incontinence.  It's important to try and find the cause using the right examination, so that the most suitable treatment can be proposed (lifestyle advice, correct use of laxatives, etc.). A healthy diet, adequate hydration and regular physical exercise are all important for maintaining good bowel movement.
