For a number of years, the NMSC has had a specific rehabilitation programme for people with acute, mostly neurological, disorders who need intensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation. There are 10 beds available in a hospital ward for this.
People who have recently suffered an acute (neurological) problem which requires intensive rehabilitation. It's important that there are prospects for recovery after the acute phase.
Approval is required from the health insurance for multidisciplinary rehabilitation via the K30/K45/K60 regulations. To be able to submit the application, the rehabilitation specialist must have a well-documented rehabilitation file available.
The multidisciplinary team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, speech therapists, rehabilitation nurses and (neuro)psychologists. They work, together with the rehabilitation specialist and neurologist, on common goals from their own specialisation and perspective.
A thorough evaluation by the various treatment disciplines is performed at the start of the treatment. This is used as the basis for setting realistic treatment goals and drawing up an individual rehabilitation programme.
The costs for hospitalisation, medical and therapeutic treatment, medication and other costs are charged in accordance with the applicable RIZIV regulations. The majority of the costs are settled directly with your health insurance. A patient fee is charged to the patient.
